Kurt Zouma has been offered a new contract and, according to sources close to Chelsea Central, an announcement will be made in January 2021.
In February 2016, a 22-year-old Zouma tore his ACL during a Premier League stalemate with Manchester United which saw him undergo surgery on his knee before being sidelined for 286 days.
Crazily enough, the French defender hasn’t suffered an injury since that horrible landing but it was enough for his Chelsea career to be put on hold as he went out on loan to Stoke City and Everton with mixed results.
Playing alongside veteran Thiago Silva, Zouma is learning how to read the game better instead of relying on his pace and incredible strength to get him and his teammates out of sticky situations.
The former Saint-Étienne defender will receive a 150% increase on his weekly earnings, taking his wage from £40,000/week to £100,000/week. The raise will mean he will be as well paid as Reece James, Antonio Rudiger, Hakim Ziyech, Matteo Kovacic, Danny Drinkwater and Marcos Alonso.
Chelsea slipped to a 3-1 defeat against Arsenal on Saturday but will be desperate to bounce back in their clash with Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
