Manchester United are in pole position to sign Independiente del Valle midfielder Moisés Caicedo, according to sources close to Man Utd Central.
The 19-year-old Ecuadorian star is wanted by Chelsea and Newcastle United but the Red Devils are set to snap him up for around €5million.
While the transfer is only coming together now, United have had a standing agreement to sign him for a few weeks now but VISA applications tend to put deals like these on hold and until he can be guaranteed a work permit, the Lancashire outfit will need to bide their time.
Last season, Caicedo contributed to eight goals in 28 games for Independiente del Valle but it’s his athleticism and work ethic that will appeal to Solskjaer the most.
The Ecuadorian midfielder will sign for United on a five-year contract, with his club set to receive €5million for his signature in January.
Capped four times, Caicedo has some experience but will need time to get used to playing in such a competitive environment as United ramp up their bid to win a first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
