Chelsea offered chance to sign £67m superstar – would be the perfect summer signing

Chelsea have been linked with a move for £932k-a-week superstar who would be their biggest signing of all time should it go through.

The Blues have successfully signed the likes of Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella and now are looking for an attacking signing to round off their summer business.

Despite the links to PSG’s Neymar, they are actively involved in a deal for Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – who seems a much simpler deal.

Neymar has begun the season in incredible form and will be fully focused on creating history for his own legacy and for his country at the World Cup in Qatar later this summer. However, there are currently rumours of a potential move to Chelsea, with the London club being one of the very few that could afford it.

Latest reports on Neymar

Chelsea have been offered an incredible deal to sign Neymar from PSG. Todd Boehly is prepared to give Thomas Tuchel what he wants to complete his squad before tomorrow’s deadline. He has worked with Tuchel before at PSG, as they reached  the Champions League final.

PSG could be open to letting one of their star forwards leave the club and there have been rumours of unrest on his side – there was even a moment at the weekend where Neymar had to ask Kylian Mbappe whether he could take the equalising penalty.

PSG may have to contend with the potential wrath of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play guidelines in the future and selling someone of such value could help. Of course, he earns £932k-a-week as it stands, and is a huge financial deal. But is only valued at £67.50m.

There has been a shift in PSG’s approach every since Christophe Galtier’s arrival at the club, with less of a focus on signing famous players and was brought into to end the ‘bling-bling era’ at the club. Selling Neymar would go a long way to ending such an idea.

How good a signing would he be?

The Brazilian has started the season in an incredible way with eight goals and six assists in only five games and has re-discovered the fire in his belly ahead of the World Cup this winter.

In terms of stats, he is one of the leading attackers in the world – and has been for the majority of his illustrious career. He’s between the 98th-99th percentiles for passes attempted, assists per 90, progressive passes, shot-creating actions, npxG + xA and xG assisted.

Expect this form to continue thanks to Galtier’s strong set-up, which is created to get the very most out of this incredible attacking line-up.

Whilst a super-move to Chelsea is a dream come true for any Chelsea fan, its highly unlikely a move of this magnitude could happen before the window shuts tomorrow.
