£34m Chelsea star unhappy with club’s decision to not allow a loan move – club wont let him go

Chelsea have had to juggle a lot of different situations with their current squad this summer, with players coming in and out of the club on a regular basis.

The high-profile signings of Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Wesley Fofana have been great additions, but some players are still hoping of leaving to secure more game time.

Two players have done that as recently as yesterday, with Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi seeking regular minutes. Another player who wants that is Christian Pulisic.

The American star is reportedly unhappy with the club’s decision to not allow him to leave on loan – as he has fallen down the pecking order in the attacking department.

Latest reports on Pulisic

Pulisic is reportedly unhappy over not being able to leave the club, albeit only temporarily, to ensure he gets regular minutes ahead of his country’s return to the World Cup. He had also claimed this back in June.

With the United States Men’s National Team qualifying for the World Cup for the first time since 2014, he is tasked with being the poster boy for a whole nation who aren’t typically big ‘soccer’ fans.

He already has 21 goals in 50 caps for his country at 23 and he will be hoping for more than the 13 times he started in the league last season. He did manage eight goals and five assists across 38 games in all competitions last year – an average of 168 minutes per goal contribution.

Although he needs to improve his injury record, having missed 16 games through injury/illness last year, which has always disrupted any runs of form that the American has put together during his time at Chelsea so far.

However, Pulisic not clapping the fans after the 2-1 loss away at Southampton last night isn’t a good look for the player.

Players have left – will he get more minutes?

There are plenty of fans who believe Pulisic still has a big role to play at the club and that could be realised this season given the departures of several attacking players.

Players who were blocking the path to regular minutes have left with Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku, Callum Hudson-Odoi and potentially Hakim Ziyech also close to leaving, it shows that there will be more minutes regardless for Captain America.

It has to be said there may still be another attacker joining the club, in the shape of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. However, he plays down the centre and isn’t a direct competitor for him. However the arrival of Sterling – who plays in his position – will see him as the second/third choice.

Instead, he’ll be hoping Tuchel returns to a four-man defence which will help Chelsea’s forwards in terms of creating chances and their overall fluidity. Of course, those regular minutes are in service of being in top form for his country ahead of the World Cup this winter.
